All competencies come from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC) and are verified by the Health Education Specialist Practice Analysis (HESPA) project for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) exams. SAMPLES OF WORK
The Signature Assignment for HSC 421 Health Behavior is a research paper conducted on a health behavior, poor medication adherence. This work includes analysis of articles on the behavior with regards to health behavior models and theories and interventions taken to improve medication adherence. The Signature Assignment fits within competency Area I: Assess Needs, Resources, and Capacity for Health Education/Promotion.
The Health Behavior Change project for HSC 210 Contemporary Health Issues is a project designed to change a health behavior, water consumption, over the course of 10 weeks. This work includes goals, maintenance, strategies, data collection of progress, and analysis of the project. The Health Behavior Change project fits within competency Area III: Implement Health Education/Promotion.
The Group Project for HSC 301 Orientation to Health Science is an oral presentation collaborated on by a group of five students. This work covers the federal requirements of school health education programs as well as information on degrees, colleges, universities, and accreditation programs pertaining to school health education. The Group Project fits within competency Area VI: Serve as a Health Education/Promotion Resource Person.
